10 weeks left

Myah is my 4 year old blue doberman.  I like to call her my "dogter", she is the first child my husband and I have.  We are expecting our first "blood" child in 10 weeks, his name will be Liam!  I think Myah is becoming more and more inquisitive   When she rests her head on my stomach and Liam kicks, Myah stares concerned at my stomach!  It is the most precious thing I have ever seen!  I can't wait to see how she is going to adapt!

  1. She may not be able to talk, but I bet Myah knows what's going on. I experienced the same scenario and once the baby was born, the dog assigned himself as the baby's overseer. Once baby Liam arrives, hopefully Myah will come to love and cherish him like you and your husband.

Best Wishes to you and your family.

  2. I have a dog as well and we treat him like he is our son. We will be thinking about babies within the next couple of years. I would be interested to hear about how you introduce your dog to your child. What is the proper way to prepare your dog for a newborn so they don't get jealous and protective?

  3. My sister recently had a baby and her dog Mocha was very inquisitive about my sister during her pregnancy. After my sister had her baby Mocha was very interested with the baby and for a brief time seemed nervous around her. Now the two get along great and my sister's baby LOVES mocha (often times puling her tail) and Mocha always seems to find a way to lick the baby's feet :) Best wishes!

  4. We had two dogs when I was pregnant with my son (also Liam!). Someone told us to have someone take a blanket home to the dog that the baby was wrapped in while you are still at the hospital. This gets the dog familiar with the scent of the baby. My dogs were great with the baby!! My Liam is now going to be four in June and I have a daughter Kinsley that will be two in a few weeks!! Enjoy the new baby!! It is the best change in life anyone could ask for!!

  5. Congratulations! That is very exciting. That is very neat that Myah is inquisitive about Liam. As others have said, hopefully Myah and Liam will get along great and Myah will look over Liam. I am sure the two of them will keep you and your husband very busy.
